Visual Artists

  • A local artist:

    • Is from Tulsa or the surrounding areas

    • Does not pay an application fee

    • Pays a booth fee of $250

    • Is not eligible for awards or cash prizes

    A juried artist:

    • Can be from anywhere, including Tulsa

    • Pays a non-refundable application fee of $35

    • Pays a $400 booth fee

    • Is reviewed by an independent jury of art professionals for selection and awards

  • Visual arts categories are clay, digital media, drawing/pastel, glass, graphics/printmaking, jewelry, leather/fiber, metal, mixed media, painting, photography, wood, and other (description required)

  • Only original, handmade work will be considered. Food, health/beauty items, and mass-produced items will not be accepted. This rule applies to commercially produced works; commercially molded ceramics, sculpture or jewelry, items made from kits or assembled from pre-manufactured components or inclusions.

  • All booths must be open for business at the following times: Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Artists must be present at their booths during the entirety of show hours. Festival volunteers will rotate through booths to allow artists to take short breaks.

  • Artists must be physically present in their booths during the entire run of Mayfest. No agents, representatives or family members may attend in place of the artist. Artists will be required to show ID at check-in.

    Twenty-four hour police protection will be provided on the festival grounds. However, neither Tulsa Mayfest, nor Heart of Tulsa Event Services LLC, nor the City of Tulsa assume responsibility for loss, damage, or theft of work or display materials, or for personal injury. We strongly recommend that all artwork be removed each night of the festival to avoid unnecessary problems.

    Only one artist may exhibit in any given space (with the exception of established collectives.)

    Each artist is responsible for charging, collecting and properly remitting all applicable Oklahoma state and city sales taxes.

    On opening day, any "no-show" spaces will be filled only by artists who applied and were notified of being on the waitlist.

    Space assignments will be made by Heart of Tulsa Event Services LLC and no artist may move his/her/their space assignment without prior approval of Heart of Tulsa Event Services LLC. Heart of Tulsa Event Services LLC reserves the right to make booth assignment changes as it deems necessary.

  • Mayfest reserves the right to request that an artist leave the festival at any time, at the festival's sole discretion, if an artist's work does not conform to show guidelines or is inconsistent with the work that was submitted for consideration. Photographs submitted for the application must represent 90% of what the artist plans to display at Mayfest. Failure to comply will result in the artist being asked to leave the festival without a refund.
